Gyges and King Candaules

Candaules, the king of Lydia, was really proud of the beauty of his cigarette. Gyges chooses to betray the king, and together, the queen and Gyges, devises a plot to murder the king. Gyges does so, marries the queen, and takes the kings throne. This is the Herodotus form of the story.
