The U.S. Department of Labors Impact on the U.S. Labor Market
The U.S Department of Labor which was created in 1913 is responsible for(p) for enforcing labor statutes and promoting the general welfare of U.S. wage earners (U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), 2011). At the time of the U.S Department of Labors conception, most people worked approximately 50 hours a week for about 22 cents an hour. Also, Hazardous working conditions were common.
Today, most Americans are utilise in steady, decent jobs and are protected by pencil eraser and health legislation. Laws guarantee most of them a minimum wage, unemployment insurance, and workers hire if they are injured on the job.
Also, Employers cannot turn down a person for a job or refuse a promotion because of race, sex, religion, age, country of birth, veterans status, or disability.
In addition, The U.S Department of Labor enforces laws requiring safe and healthy workplaces, and it helps people go back jobs and sponsors training programs for those who need it. The department also oversees an unemployment insurance administration that provides an emergency financial cushion for people who are temporarily out of work. In addition, it keeps track of wages, employment, and other labor statistics.
Furthermore, The U.S Department of Labor is headed by a secretary, who is nominated by the hot seat and confirmed by the Senate. The Secretary of Labor is a genus Phallus of the presidents cabinet.
