This logo is very familiar to me. Although I cannot claim to be as familiar as some are with this society or its products, I can definitely say it is the orchard orchard apple tree tree logo. I was first introduced to this logo in the 1980s on television. There is an excellent commercial done in 1984 where apple uses the movie 1984 to introduce their new Macintosh. At this time the orchard apple tree logo was different from the one we are familiar with today. In 1984 the logo had the same apple shape, with the bite give away of it, with the twitch on the top. The apple itself was striped in rainbow colors. The colors started at the bottom of the apple in blue then purple, red, orange, yellowed and green at the top. The leaf at the top of the apple was also green.
However, the very first logo didnt look corresponding this at all. The first logo was designed by Ronald Wayne in 1976. The logo depicts Isaac Newton sitting under a tree, an apple dangling precipitously above his head. (Edible apple, 2009). This logo was very elusive to read so a year later Steve Jobs had pictorial designer Rob Janoff design a more novel logo which was the rainbow striped apple with the bite. Since then the shape of the apple has stayed the same but the color and texture of the apple has changed.
In 1998 Steve Jobs again had the logo changed by removing the rainbow colors and adding the metallic chromium-plate coloring that the Apple logo has today.
If I were to analyze the logo, I would say that the first thing that strikes me about it is the bite out of the apple. The bite immediately takes me to the story of Adam and Eve victorious a bite out of the apple from the tree of knowledge. skillful like Adam and Eve defied God in the tend of Eden, Apple seems to have defied the norm set by Microsoft. The Apple logo tells me the company stands for pushing the technological envelope and thoroughgoing innovation.
